Burmese cat is famous for Burma and this cat breed found in Burma. In 1930 this cat was brought Burma to America and bred with American Siamese. American and British breeders are different from Burmese cat breed standards.
Actually Burmese cats are descendants of one female cat are known as the Wong Mau. All Burmese cat has the dark brown colour but now Burmese cat breed available in different colours. Burmese cat breed is famous for uniquely social and playful treatment.
A pair of Siamese cat was closely resembled with modern American Burmese cat. For many years the encouraging crossbreeding between Burmese and Siamese in an attempt to more closely conform to the Siamese builds. The breed thus slowly died out in Britain.

The GCCF has banned the registration of all Burmese imported from America in order to preserve the traditional bloodlines.

 Most modern cat registries do not formally recognize these dual standards as representing separate breeds, but those that do refer to the British type as the European Burmese breed cat.

During the early period it was clear that the Wong Mau herself was genetically is a crossbreed between Siamese and Burmese breed. This early crossbreed of Burmese cat was later developed as a separate breed and today known as the Tonkinese. Burmese cats have also been instrumental in the development of the Bombay, Burmilla and among others.

Appearance:

Burmese cat is brown and sable and find in British and European. Chocolate colour Burmese cat are also find in European. Burmese cat has different in body and head shape. Burmese cat are more slender ,larger pointed ear, long tampering muzzle and has a almond shaped eyes.

The legs are long and clean oval paws and has a taper tail to medium length. Legs and tail should be proportionate to the body, medium-length, and the paws also rounded.

Burmese cat breed has small to medium size and it has 4 to 6 kg weight.

Coat and colour:

The Burmese cat breed has very short and glossy coat with a satin like finish. It has uniform colour and solid over the whole body. Its Faint color point markings may be visible, but any barring or spotting is considered a serious fault. Burmese cat breed has eyes colour green or gold depending on coat color.

Original Burmese cat has standard colour is a rich dark brown variously known as sable, brown and seal.

This gene causes a reduction in the amount of pigment produced and converting black into brown. The action of the gene also produces the modified color point effect, which is more noticeable in young kittens.

Currently, the British GCCF standard recognizes solid brown, chocolate, blue, lilac, red and cream, as well as the tortoiseshell pattern on a base of brown, chocolate, blue or lilac.

Genetics

The Burmese gene is also present in some other cat breeds particularly the established rex breeds, where it can be fully expressed in its homozygous form Burmese Colour Restriction or Sepia. The same gene can also be combined with the Siamese gene to produce either darker points or a light-on-dark-brown coat and  similar to the Burmese chocolate known as mink.
